4 DAYS | HILLS, HERITAGE + COAST

With just 4 days we can get you into hill territory that will bring a definite sense of Vietnam adventure.

On this page we have an example 4 dayer for you, but we can work with your group to tailor the ideal experience.

Only got 2 or 3 days to ride? No problem - that works too. Get in touch and we’ll work out a central Vietnam ride to suit your level and time frame.

Day 2 To the hills

142km | 2,300m

We’ll roll out of Hoi An westwards on for an easy 60k warm up before turning into mountain country and taking on two climbs - one of 8km, followed by another of 11km. Both are magnificent, with the scenery becoming ever grander as we ride into remote car-free ethnic minority territory. After a descent we’ll turn off onto an even quieter hidden backroad for some extra climbing toward our base for the night - a Khatu minority village. Here we’ll eat dinner cooked over a wood fire by a local family in the Guol (communal house).

Day 3: To the Frontier and Royal Capital

172km | 2,600m

After an early breakfast in the village, we’ll take on the steep 15km up to Prao town and onto a sensational stretch of the Ho Chi Minh Road through some of central Vietnam’s oldest remaining rainforest. At 8km and 30km we’ll take on two smaller passes before reaching the main event for the day - a 13km climb at 4%. After an eerie tunnel we head onto a (mostly) flat farm land plateau before we an incredible descent and the rolling road into the ancient former capital, Hue.

The Hai Van Pass - this is the north side , less popular with local rad cyclists but it gives the better views in our book

Day 4: Bucket List Pass + Beach

150km | 1,200m

An almost entirely flat backroad takes us between the beach and Tam Giang, Asia’s largest lagoon system. The warmup climbs today are the Phuoc Tuong Pass (1.4km @ 3%) and the Phu Gia Pass (1.3km @ 5%). After these we’ll meet the majestic, bucket list Hai Van Pass. This is a significant climbing challenge of 8.8km @ 9%. The rest of the ride is plain sailing into Danang then back to Hoi An where the tour ends.
